What’s Riffmaster Pro Software?
Riffmaster pro is created by Heath Nicholson, a professional guitar teacher, and author and is a brilliant piece of software for any budding guitarist to own.
What is does in a nutshell, is takes any piece of music and slows it down completely so that you can learn each note easily. The beauty of Riffmaster pro is that is slows the track down enough so you can hear each beat and pick it out slowly. Then once you’ve mastered the track, you can just speed up your playing to the original speed of the song.
Being able to play music by ear is absolutely essential for any guitarist. Current technology like Riffmaster pro now make learning how to do this so much easier. Even extremely fast guitar solos can be slowed down and this is amazingly helpful when you’re new to learning songs solos by ear.

The Good Point
- Easy To Use: I normally hate learning to use new software that I buy. But I found Riffmaster Pro very easy to use. It has a very simple user interface that is intuitive to use. It only took me a minute or two to figure out how to load in a song in and slow it down.
- Excellent Sound Quality: Even when listening to the slowed down version of the song, I still found it easy to hear all the notes clearly.
- Pitch Function: I loved the pitch function of Riffmaster Pro. I was able to take a backing track and change it into a different keys. This allowed me to use the same backing track to practice soloing in different keys. Very cool.
- Reasonbly Priced: To be blunt $47.00 is NOTHING when I think about the time this software will save me.
The Bad Point
I found it hard to think of anything negative that I could say about Riffmaster Pro. But I refuse to write a review without at least one criticism.
So here it is…
- Lack Of Manual: Although Riffmaster Pro does have five easy-to-follow training videos, I feel that some people might prefer a written manual of some kind. (Perhaps as a downloadble PDF document). We all learn differently, and some people prefer reading to watching videos.
Is Riffmaster Pro a Scam Software?
No. This is the real deal. It’s a great piece of software that any guitarist should own. Remember though, at time of writing it’s a Windows only program – sorry Mac people
Also, you need to get some DRM ripping software to play songs bought from iTunes.
Conclusion
Considering the huge value this little software package delivers, this is pretty much a no-brainer decision if you’re the kind of guitar player that is frequently trying to figure out new songs. The time you will save, not to mention the sheer advantage you’ll gain, is priceless. Definitely recommended.
